Review by hotel critic
Nestled in the beautiful colonial heart of Antigua, Porta Hotel Antigua offers a visually stunning retreat steeped in the vibrant Mayan culture. My recent romantic escape here was enhanced not only by its picturesque gardens, but also by the warm hospitality of the staff, who made every moment feel special. The room we stayed in was delightful, with lovely furnishings and a cozy feel, but I was particularly drawn to the exquisite dining options at Los Moros, where each meal was a treat for the senses. One of the standout features was the Ceiba Spa. I indulged in a unique temazcal session, a must-try experience that provided a genuine connection to local traditions and left me feeling rejuvenated. The serene atmosphere by the swimming pool, framed by lush gardens, was perfect for unwinding and soaking in the tranquil vibes of Antigua. While the hotel provided a beautiful setting and great amenities, it’s the easy access to the historic sights of the city that truly made this place remarkable. Wandering through the cobblestone streets, I was reminded that this charming destination is filled with life—local children playing soccer, impromptu marimba concerts, and colorful colonial architecture all around. In short, Porta Hotel Antigua is the perfect base for travelers like us seeking authentic experiences intertwined with a touch of luxury.
